It’s happening in Villeurbanne
On September 22, 2023, the City of Villeurbanne and Maison DOGNIN invite you to an exceptional evening at RIZE, on the occasion of the exhibition "Ça se Trame à Villeurbanne". This event will mark a highlight in the context of this exhibition, celebrating the city's rich industrial heritage around textiles.
On the program: an immersion in the history and identity of Villeurbanne through works that trace its industrial past and its deep links with the world of weaving. Historians and local actors have come together to breathe new life into the textile know-how that has marked the city and its inhabitants, all particularly those of Maison DOGNIN relating to Lyon lace.
This evening will be an opportunity to discover unpublished documents, to exchange with the actors of this still living history, and to dive into a universe mixing creation, memory and transmission. A conference will follow the guided tour of the exhibition.
The Rize was founded on a project wanted by the municipality of Villeurbanne in the early 2000s: a center dedicated to the "working, multi-ethnic and fraternal memory of 20th century cities", which draws its meaning from its roots in Villeurbanne, considered an exemplary territory of urbanization in the industrial era. Open since 2008, the Rize aims to transmit a common narrative of the city, built from archives, memories of residents and the work of associated researchers.
Join us on September 22, 2023 at RIZE for an evening dedicated to textile art, culture and living heritage!
