Les Mariannes en mode Goutte d'Or

The Mariannes in Goutte d’Or mode

Marianne embodies the French Republic, she was chosen to symbolize the "mother country" that protects her children. Since then, she has oscillated between two poles, depending on the political climate.

She is a warrior defending freedom with weapons in hand, wearing her red Phrygian cap borrowed from the freed slaves of Antiquity. On the barricades, her torn clothing reveals a bare breast.

Wearing a crown of laurel or ears of corn, Marianne becomes wise. She is attentive to the aspirations of the people, sometimes sitting with a rudder and a half-overturned sack of wheat at her feet.

The Gouttes d'Or de la Mode et du Design brings together creators, artisans, designers, from very diverse backgrounds. Freedom of creation is a common value, as is the development of new types of solidarity combining cooperation, mutualization, in a desire for social innovations.

On the occasion of the Montmartre Harvest, seven of them offer you their free interpretation of the figure of Marianne: these are the “Mariannes in Goutte d'Or mode”, based on an original idea by Rafik Mahiout.

Here are seven incarnations of this allegory, according to the sensitivity and history of each, and which together draw, in this district of Goutte d'Or, the varied face of a France which is evolving and which loves all its children...

And above all, a special thank you to all the creators and our Mariannes for their gracious intervention: Anna Belyavina Normand (for DOGNIN); Néné Ly Diallo (for MAZALAY COUTURE); Naseneba Bamba (for DOMINIQUE PETRIS); Aurélie Chaudon (for FABRICE DAIGREMONT); Kara Belguendouz (for MARCIA DE CARVALHO); Clara Biagi (for LE KORI) and Amira Sliman (for AMIRA SLIMAN).
